The
Prairie Dog Central Railway is known as a short line railway which is owned and operated by The Vintage Locomotive Society Inc. or VLS. This railway is also known as one of the oldest regularly scheduled vintage operating trains in North America. The Prairie Dog Central Railway is dependent upon the gracious volunteer members who operate the train, the station and their shop to get it going during the season. The VLS is a Registered Charity whose primary goal is operate and maintain the Prairie Dog Central Railway vintage steam train.
The PDCR or Prairie Dog Central Railway has a preservation history of operating on the now-abandoned Canadian National Cabot Subdivision from 1970 to 1974. From 1975 to 1996 the PDCR operated on a now abandoned Canadian National Railways Line and from 1999 the PDCR purchased and moved to the former CN Oak Point Subdivision.
The visitor season runs from May through September with the last almost four hours with one stop in the
rural community of Grossle Isle. Regular trips are scheduled every Saturday, Sunday and Holiday Monday from May through September. There many family activities to enjoy such as the Special dinner excursions, the Howlin’ Halloween Express Trains in October and the most recognizable event for the children, and the annual
Day Out with Thomas event. There is another neat event called the
Engineer for a Day. Details of the operations can be found on by checking the

Prairie Dog Central Railway is available for a private vintage railway. This means it can be chartered to celebrate your own special occasion to build a lasting memory. Depart from
Inkster Junction Station and upon returning decide between several dining and entertainment locations you wish to visit.
The Prairie Dog Central Railway is a heritage railway just outside of Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada and is available for all to see including private chaters, and schools.
